In October 2010, La Pocha was invited to Curaçao, an incredible island in the Southern Carribean Sea, ,to give workshops to both youths and adults as part of the programme of The Instituto Buena Bista (IBB).
This was an unforgettable experience through which I can honestly say I have strengthened my belief in performance as a space where risky, complex and sensitive issues can be nurtured and transformed into powerful (and empowering) actions and attitudes.
About The Instituto Buena Bista (IBB)- Curaçao Center for Contemporary Art : Since 2006 the IBB offers orientation, guidance and support to young talents in Curaçao. To give a broad as possible view on the contemporary art field to their students as well as the broader community, IBB invites visual artists from all over the globe to Curaçao to give new views – ‘buena bista’s’ – on the possibilities of art.
